History
In the 1940's, during World War II, the site which is now the Gliding Club of Victoria was built as an Elementary Pilot Training School. It was adopted as a home for gliding in 1953 when it was recognised as an ideal gliding location. The airfield now offers facilities which are among the finest in the world.
Our complex at Benalla is extensive, amply qualifying it for the title of the largest gliding club in the Southern Hemisphere. The club operates from a first class airport, with extensive hangarage for club and private gliders.
